TINY LIVING â—½ HOME

Living in 325 square feet and having a few sick people in that tiny of a space is not ideal. Of course, sickness is never ideal but in a very tiny space it becomes almost impossible for one not to catch the illness from the other. I suppose the sanitation and clean-up is on a smaller scale but I also feel like it has to be more consistent, because we can’t “quarantine” to a specific room!

Finally, this weekend everyone seems to be on the up and up! The past two weeks were rough!

This tiny living sickness situation started with Eli. It was like a rock literally hit him and he was down. It was crazy! He woke up and said he didn’t feel well and literally slept on the couch the entire day…then got a little better

Then, of course, the rock hit Asher, our other son. Oh, my goodness! This went back and forth for weeks. The “quarantined” area was the left side of the couch in the living room. If you had the bug, that’s where you had to stay… or in your bed. There were literally boxes of Kleenexes, vitamins to swallow, water to drink, etc. Everything that belonged to the sick person had to stay in one area. I, being the mom, sprayed sanitizer in that area and all over anything that person may have touched. It was awful!

Now, I’m a weird, crunchy hippie lady when it comes to sickness and want to try the “natural” route first. I say that to tell you that I like to use garlic and onion. And in a small space, that combo smells pretty rough! Our tiny space smelled like an Italian restaurant and dirty feet all at the same time. Luckily, my “sanitizer” spray is clove so that makes things smell a little better! Also, the kids kept getting headaches, so I used peppermint.  This also helped tone down the garlic smell!

My husband Brian was next in line for the sickness but luckily his was a much shorter bout of it and I didn’t have to use all the strong smells for him!

I’m so grateful that I avoided our tiny space sickness episode and was able to help take care of everyone (moms aren’t allowed to be sick, right?) And there lots of prayers going up for anyone else going through this annoying sickness….especially if you’re cramped together in tiny spaces.
