TRIED & TRUE â—½ TIPS
Last Month's Learning
by Marcy Lytle

It’s August and so much learning has taken place this summer…just by living the life. I try to note cool things I come across or note or experience, to share them with you. Share yours too, with your circle of friends and family. In fact, have a sharing party of all things you’ve learned. Wouldn’t that be fun? Here are my August finds/facts:

I recently switched all my plastic cutting boards of different shapes and sizes out for ONE cutting board made of marble – and it sits on the counter to use for everything. It’s pretty, easy to clean, and works like a charm. (Found at Nadeau)

Did you know that a clear small bowl can be turned upside down over a pretty glass, with tea light inside, for a nice candle glow on a shelf?

Sometimes (oftentimes, actually) Target has the cutest small pillows in the Dollar Spot that look great on a porch chair! I love this tomato one!

Remember the Operation Game? There’s an inflatable version for the smaller kids! It’s fun!

“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” My favorite quote lately… A weather forecaster posted it after recent rains that soon gave way to heat.

If you’re having bacon on a charcuterie board, elevate it by standing it up in a sundae glass!

Michaels often has huge sales on their crafts and we recently snagged four of these mosaic vase kits for a family weekend idea for the girls!

Ever shop at Nordstrom Rack? We found some great men’s shirts there recently, at a great price!

Also at Michaels, they have large plastic tubs (in the summer) that work well for packing food, toys and gifts for outings…or for using as an ice tub for drinks. They run on super sale end of summer!

Is the hardware on some of your cabinets looking a bit outdated? You can change it all out very inexpensively…just check Amazon for all the updated options!
It’s still summer, so enjoy homemade ice cream or at least enjoy whatever ice cream you have in cute cups with wooden spoons and toppings. Wooden spoons taste so much better with ice cream than metal ones!

I had some random charms in a drawer and decided to group them by threes on a strand of leather for a pretty charm necklace. Easy!
These jewelry boxes for drawers work wonders and hold so much! I love them.

I found a great website (they were also at a market) for home goods. Look at these beautiful baskets with handles! Similar ones at Walmart.

Some of my glasses hurt my nose and leave a mark, and I found these comfort sticky pads on Amazon. They are easy to peel off and stick, and no more pain or marks!
