ROOTED IN LOVE ◽ HOME
It was a random Thursday afternoon. I was reading outside while my kids played in their inflatable pool. I decided to close my book and simply enjoy my surroundings.
-
The melody of laughter created by children basking in summer.
-
Golden sunlight dancing through green leaves over my head with glimpses of the deep blue Texas sky in between.
-
A cool breeze drifting over my warm skin and fluttering through my hair.
-
The soft fur of my dog snoring at my feet.
-
Colorful flowers poking up from pots all around the yard.
-
The chatter of birds as they flew from tree to tree.
-
A cold drink in my hand and a good book to bury my nose in.

It was a beautiful reminder that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
We don’t need more money or better stuff in order to be happy. We don’t need a fancy house or designer clothes or a shiny new car in the garage. The greatest beauty in life is found in the simplest things. We are surrounded by God’s amazing, astounding, awe-inspiring creation every single day. All we have to do is slow down and open our eyes to the beautiful world around us.
Whenever I’m tempted to wish my life was different or better in some way, I go back to these simple joys. I think about how amazing it is just to be alive. How beautiful the world is and how blessed I am to be here. I may not have everything I’ve ever wanted. My life might be dull compared to others. But I have Jesus and I have love, and that’s more than enough.
Don’t wait for life to be perfect in order to be happy, because you’ll probably be waiting forever. Instead, choose to find joy in this moment. Whether it’s a sunset or a flower or a hug from someone you love, there is something beautiful in every day. Don’t be too busy to soak in those little blessings.
