TRIED & TRUE ◽ TIPS
Last Month's Learning
by Marcy Lytle

July was full, the summer’s been fun, and I tried and learned a lot! Hope you enjoy these things I’ve enjoyed…because they’re worth sharing and trying!
Market bag – Target often has the cutest bags for $5 in the dollar spot. My daughter gave me this one, which has pockets for inserting flowers. I love it!
Charcuterie board – It’s a two tiered one and I saw it and loved it! You can hang your food, or just little notes, or whatever you like! See In the Kitchen to see how we used it for a family dinner.
Mixbook – A great place to use their template and create a book of photos and text. I used it to make a memory book for the kids. Easy and arrived so quickly.
Faces book – The Dollar Tree has these sticker books full of faces and pages of stickers to dress the faces and add all sorts of accessories. The littles love it!
Float glasses – We had root beer floats this summer and I found this set, with spoons, from Amazon. It’s great to have these on hand for ice cream night!
Luggage – Do the little in your family have their own luggage? This set with the astronaut, and a backpack to match, was perfect for 3 ½ year old Camp for our recent family weekend getaway.
Matthew’s book – I had heard Matthew McConaughey read part of his poetry book and liked what I heard. So I bought the book. It’s a fun read and good verse!
Placemats – I’ve bought this set twice now. They are huge paper placements that look so good on the table for parties. I just love them.
Outdoor plants – I found these two huge faux plants at Home Goods for my back patio. Aren’t they pretty? They had a ton…

Pool pass – Many hotels in my area sell a pool pass – where you get to go swim all day at the hotel. I did it with a friend and we’re going again. We truly felt like ladies of leisure, especially when we ordered lunch poolside…
Magnetic scarf – Saw this scarf at a store and had to have it. The scarf is already tied and it just closes with a magnet. Can’t wait to wear it this fall…
Taste and See – I’m really enjoying this book SO MUCH. It’s about food in the bible, it includes recipes, and it’s a great read. I’m on my second time through.

Theo of Golden – I haven’t finished this book yet, but more people have told me to read this than any other book. And I like it a lot so far…
Green Mats – I found this at Home Goods as well, a green mat, faux of course. I hung it on my fence and think it looks like grass art! I love it!
I saw this cool wreath in a store, wrapped with fabric and then a brooch added in the center! Elegant and so pretty – great idea for the next season.

Did you know you can order any Jersey Mike’s sandwich in a bowl? I get the club, Mike’s way. It’s so yummy, and there’s no bread…
Have you seen bandannas or scarves in a frame? My DIL does this, and they turn out so pretty. And it’s an inexpensive but elegant way to decorate your walls! Vintage scarves or bandannas are the best.
I recently visited a museum with an exhibit of tables in America – how different cultures brought different traditions to the table. Each table was set up with an activity. One was smelling spices and guessing what they are. What a fun idea for a family night – all different table activities! Checkers, defining words, etc.
