INNER STRENGTH â—½ YOU
YOU - may 2024 - inner strength.jpg

With parenting being the hardest job, in my opinion, I need a support system. One of my support systems is looking up and reading bible verses that have to do with parenting and protecting children.

“Do not be afraid for I am with you.” Isaiah 43:5

That one is similar to what I remind my kids about. I tell them that God is always with us to listen and help and loves us no matter what. Is it really that simple? I wish. Of course it isn’t. There are times when it’s only fair that I teach them that God’s way of helping isn’t always how we think He should help. He does know what we need and want. He knows what’s in our hearts and minds. He longs for us to reach out to Him so He can comfort us. Honestly, as I write this, I feel closer to God.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6

In today’s society, I find it especially important to take time to what I call “grateful prayers.” Sometimes, my boys and I  each have  a turn and  say them out loud.   Other times my boys

say theirs in their head. Once in a while, they ask me to say them for all of us. When I do that, I ask if they want to add anything. They usually say no, but I still think it’s important to ask.

Prayer time with my family is especially important these days with what my boys and I are going through. Consistent prayer, I have found, gives us a solid foundation as a family. When times are tough, and it feels like we don’t have enough time for everything; that is when I make sure to divulge even two minutes of prayer time together. It’s too important not to.

God gives me the inner strength I need to be the best parent I can be.

God gives my boys strength to persevere when I can’t be with them when I want to be.

God gives us the inner strength we need to appreciate each other as a family unit and enjoy our time together.

If I can do it with God’s help, so can you!
