DATE NIGHT FUN ◽ MARRIAGE

Coziness is the best when the temperatures cool down.  And what better way to be cozy than to plan to incorporate coziness into a night out, or time with him.  It’s jacket weather most places, it’s time to shake out and get the blankets placed around the house, it’s the shift from cold brew to hot tea, and all things that speak warmth and togetherness.

Taste Test – What if you did a coffee shop hop one night, where you ordered a few seasonal tastes and ranked them?  Perhaps share a drink at three different shops, and a different pastry or treat.  Talk about what you like/dislike.  Take a game to play, too.  And even better, invite another couple to join, so there are more people tasting! Cozy and fun!

Fire Pit Pizza – If you have a fire pit, or your friends do, gather and make pizza on the pit!  You’ll need a cast iron skillet and a fire grate, and you’ll need coals, not an open fire.  If your pan doesn’t have a lid, then use heavy duty foil.  And grab some mitts and tongs.  Start the pit 30-45 minutes before cooking and let the coals burn down to a glowing bed, and create a flat even zone.  Place the grate over the coals, and set your skillet on the grate to preheat, then coat the bottom of it with olive oil.  Next, stretch your dough to fit the pan and place in the hot skillet.  Cook first side 3-4 minutes (look for bubbles to form) and then flip it (with tongs).

Quickly spread your sauce, add mozzarella and toppings.  Keep the toppings thin. Cover skillet with foil or a lid, to melt the cheese.  Let cook another 4-6 minutes, making sure it doesn’t scorch on the bottom.  Once done, take skillet off fire, let pizza rest 2 minutes before slicing.  What a fun cozy experience to enjoy outside with blankets on your laps!

Thrift for Treasures – Put on your sweaters and take a certain amount of cash and go thrifting together, to purchase items with your cash, only.  You can pick out an outfit for each other, if you want!  The requirements are that it has to be cozy!  (Think sweaters, scarves, fleece, etc.)  This will be fun.  Grab a hot drink on the way home and hold hands, as you tell each other “what a treasure you are.”

Diner Dinner (or breakfast) – Find a cozy diner near you, or one in a small town where you can drive one morning.  Diners are always cozy.  Order something that makes you happy and savor every bite.  Then go for a brisk walk in the neighborhood where the diner is.  Look at the homes and the foliage, and walk back to your car. Another option is lunch at a diner, with a winter milkshake (think peppermint!)

Friendsgiving – If you’ve never done this with friends, do it this year.  Don’t make it stressful, if you’re already hosting a big dinner with family.  But invite a couple of couples and decide whose house to go to, then bring three soups, one from each couple.  Have each couple also bring two different bowls to eat from, placing all six bowls (or how many people you’re eating with) on the table, and each person gets to wash and take home that bowl afterwards.  Ask questions, give thanks, and be cozy in the living area after the dinner is done.
