IN UNISON ◽ MARRIAGE

Laughter is one of the healthiest and most powerful ways for couples to stay connected.
Proverbs 17:22 says,
“A joyful heart is good medicine”
a fitting picture of shared laughter in marriage.
Laughter strengthens marriage by deepening the bond between spouses.
As the saying goes, “Daily laughter is like a vitamin for your marriage.”
There is truth in that because laughter releases feel-good chemicals.
I love knowing that when we laugh out loud, it delivers a generous dose of those “vitamins.”
Silly moments are memorable, especially when you share a TV show that makes you laugh.
You’re probably already thinking of one show that makes you both laugh out loud.
We’ve been watching Kitchen Nightmares on Disney Plus.
Gordon Ramsay’s exchanges with the restaurant’s staff are a good laugh.
Or how about this. Chris and I were holding hands crossing the parking lot after our son’s football game…
Chris said, “They need to repaint the speed bumps so people can see them.”
“They do?” I replied.
At that very moment—whoop! —we tripped over an unpainted speed bump.
Such a true laugh out loud moment for us!
That speed bump was just a silly mishap, something small that still had us laughing when we laid our heads on our pillows that night.
Imagine ending the day thinking back on the day’s shared laugh as your final thought.
You’d likely drift off smiling, wouldn’t you?
Oh, yes also, creating inside jokes can lead to plenty of shared laughter.
Some moments are funny because only the two of you understand them.
Chris and I must have a few, because when we laugh, our boys often ask, “What’s so funny?”
You don’t need to be together to bond over a shared laugh.
When you know your spouse’s sense of humor, sending a funny reel can work just as well—Wait for it…you’ll look forward to their reaction.
I believe laughter is a sweet antidote in marriage, because it keeps the heart youthful.
May I ask, what makes you and your spouse laugh out loud?
How often do you share a good laugh?
You wouldn’t want to miss out on the laughter “vitamin” – So laugh together, and often.
