MOVING FORWARD ◽ ENCOURAGEMENT

My life may not look very exciting to anyone watching right now. I'm not dating anyone. I don't love my current job or have much money. I have many responsibilities, including being the only parent in my teen daughter's life. As I grow older, I have more physical discomfort and less energy. It isn't a terrible life, and I am grateful for many good things, but it probably doesn't seem terribly impressive to most people.
Except that I'm hearing from God right now, and I understand perfectly what he is saying. This season is important in its relative stillness because I'm able to focus on preparing for a future that will be better than I can currently ask or imagine. That preparation isn't exciting or glamorous; it involves decluttering, spending less, taking care of doctor appointments, and leaning in to certain
character traits that God is developing in me with my job. It takes discipline and a willingness to ignore the temptation to give in to restlessness. But I sense the certainty of what is being accomplished: The building of a foundation of future faith in my small yesses now. The focus of the eternal in my willingness to obey because I know he is faithful and has a good plan for my future.
I'm keenly aware that something big is brewing, and I don't want to miss it!
So I will decline a few social functions so I can organize my garage or rest. I will happily wait for a boyfriend so that I can have more time to journal and pray. I will not complain that I don't have as much financial freedom yet as I would like. Because the woman he is making me into needs to be crafted from certain discomforts, at least temporarily. It will be so worth it.
It truly is a joy and privilege to wait on the Lord as he slowly - or suddenly- reveals what he is up to! My small yesses now for his greatest blessings.
