One Night, Stay Late

I'm posting this under road trips, but it was a very short road trip...just into Austin. We live in Pflugerville, a suburb of Austin, but wanted to get away for just one night. We found out that booking Lone Star Court with our mobile phone saved us $20 and then paying an extra $30 we could then have a late checkout at 3pm the following day. That made us happy!

The hotel made us even happier! It's located in the Domain, a fun shopping area in Austin, so it's within walking distance of all of the stores. But we didn't go for the shopping, we went to relax. The rooms in Lone Star Court are all furnished in a retro style (look at the fridge!) and surround a courtyard which is where we hung out.

We didn't arrive until 5:30 so we opted to swim and then order food poolside from the Water Trough, the hotel's restaurant that opens up right by the swimming area! He ordered quesadillas and I ordered chips and queso/salsa. Both were tasty. There were fresh towels by the pool, and yellow loungers, all for a perfect night. There's also a bonfire, bean bag toss, and paths for walking. It's lovely!

Everything was perfect in our room (except they could stand to upgrade their pillows!), including the coke wooden pallet tray lined with snacks (yes, they cost extra.)

The next morning we went for an early walk around the center before the stores opened. There's a kiosk where you can take a selfie and post to social media - all free. Oh, we first had breakfast (complimentary) from the Water Trough as well, outside, and the biscuits were sooooo good! He had gravy and I had jelly! There was also an array of pastries and fruit and oatmeal and toppings. All set up so pretty. We sat in the rockers outside our room and read for a bit.

We wanted to enjoy the pool some more, we camped out there for a couple of hours or more. It was nice to catch up on more reading, dip in the cool water, meet a few people, and enjoy some of those snacks from our room. (The restaurant isn't open for lunch.)

Since we didn't have to check out until 3pm, we felt this stay was absolutely the best, and we'd definitely stay here again. A great place to go with friends (because of the courtyard) or just by ourselves!

(The room was very affordable...even on a holiday weekend :))
